Competitive Levels and Corresponding Colors
Our team is growing and we want to ensure that each athlete can get the most out of the program. Therefore we broke the athletes into color groups for practice times. Below is a description of the color groups and corresponding levels.
Glitter: The glitter team is for children ages 4-6, who show a commitment (along with their parents) to continue their training in gymnastics past the recreational Pre-K and K-Gym classes. These athletes train in order to later transition to Level 3 or 4 depending on age and level of skills gained. The focus is not competition at this time, but rather to become ready for competition at an older age.
Red & Black: These color groups consist of Level 3 Compulsory gymnasts. This is beginning level of competition for Vermont gymnastics. Level 3s are our largest group of Team gymnasts, therefore we have split them into two different “colors” to maximize their training.
Gold: The Gold Team is for girls working on Level 4 and up, accordingly we have both Compulsory and Optional level gymnasts. For clarification, Levels 3-5 are considered “Compulsory” and Levels 6-10 are “Optional.” The difference between compulsory and optional level gymnastics resides in routines. In compulsory gymnastics every athlete in the same level has the exact same prescribed routine. In optional gymnastics, athletes have a set of guidelines for skills which they need to include in their routines. Currently, our Gold team has gymnasts who are Level 3 or 4, but are working on moving up to Level 4 or 5 this season. The remainder of the Gold team consists of optional gymnasts in Levels 6 thru 8.
