Class Descriptions
All classes work on developing strength, flexibility, body awareness and self-confidence.
Mom, Pop & Tot: This is a parent participation class, which introduces young children to the basic structure of a gymnastics class, while teaching gross motor skills and spatial awareness. Classes begin with a warm up teaching body positions, followed by simple gymnastics circuits using specialized preschool equipment. Children learn fun stretches and how to take turns. Parent participation is required. For children ages 18 months-3 ½ years, accompanied by an adult.
Preschool Gymnastics: Designed to match a preschooler’s boundless energy, this class focuses on acquiring and improving gross motor skills through a series of gymnastics circuits, games, and musical activities. This is a child independent class for children ages 3 ½ – 5 years.
K-Gym: This class enables kindergartners to sharpen both fine and gross motor skills by working on basic gymnastics skills and body positions. Classes will feature some specialized equipment designed for developmental age groups, and will transition into working on full-sized gymnastics apparatus.
Beginner I: This class provides comprehensive gymnastics instruction on bars, beam, floor and vault for beginning-level gymnasts in a non-competitive environment. For children ages 6 and up.
Beginner II: This class provides comprehensive gymnastics instruction on bars, beam, floor and vault for gymnasts with one to two years of experience in a non-competitive environment and builds on skills learned in Beginner I. For children ages 6 and up.
Intermediate/Advanced: This class provides comprehensive gymnastics instruction on bars, beam, floor and vault for intermediate and advanced-level gymnasts in a non-competitive environment and builds on skills learned in Beginner I and II. For children ages 6 and up.
Boys Class: These classes provide comprehensive gymnastics instruction specifically designed for boys. Gymnasts will train on bars, vault, floor, rings, and parallel bars. For boys ages 6 and up.
Middle School/High School: This class is open to all in grades 6-12 who want to compete at the middle school/ high school level of competition and stay in shape for the upcoming season. Emphasis on increasing strength and flexibility.
After-school Mini-Camps: Now you don’t have to wait until summer to enjoy camp or worry about transportation to gym classes! Students can take the bus from school straight to our facility, where our daily mini-camp sessions offer a mix of general physical activities, arts and crafts, snack time, and seasonal outdoor recreation. Students enrolled in regular classes can participate in mini-camp activities at a discounted rate while they wait for their evening class to start. Daily and Weekly rates available! After School Mini-Camps begin August 28, 2017 follow the Washington West School calendar. Please note: After School Mini-Camps do not run when there is no school.
“No School” Camp and School Vacation Camps: These camps run all day long (8am-5pm) when there is no school scheduled on dates TBA.
Open Gym: Students of all ages may attend these skill reinforcement sessions, which students move at their own pace to events they want to work on. Walk-ins and non-members are welcome! This is NOT a time to learn new skills, but work on skills already learned. Parent-signed waivers are required. Instructors are available for assessing and spotting as needed. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult and parents must sign a release as well.
Competitive Team:
Competitive team is a year-round commitment for both the gymnast and family. At CVGA we offer pre-team and levels 3-10. Team practice depends on age and level and should be discussed with a team coaching staff member. Gymnasts are working towards qualifying for state, regional, or national competitions. If interested, please speak to Reliance Touchette about trying out and for an informational packet.
Birthday Parties: Let us do all the work for you! We will offer an hour of fun organized gymnastics, obstacle courses and non stop go time for your kids. Then spend a half an hour in our seating area for food and cake!!! See our Birthday Page for more information.
